11, Rue Jullien

11, Rue Jullien

The Sjostrand family, looking happy.

On the back of this photo is written: "Julen 1946". Underneath, "Sjostrand. 11 Rue Jullien. Vanves, Seine."

That's what it looks like, at least, and it would make some sense as the Marche des Vances is near the Porte de Vanves metro stop.

This has what looks like Christmas decorations and daffodils, while the previous photo has what appears to be a nativity scene. I'm reliably informed that "Julen" is, contrary to my original belief, not the Swedish for July but actually means Christmas. Which makes a lot more sense.

Family Sjostrand

Family Sjostrand
Originally uploaded by teotwawki.

This is, presumably, one of the families that Marianne met or stayed with while in Sweden. This photo is marked on the back with the name of the family - Sjostrand, it looks like.

I was out having a coffee yesterday afternoon and a girl came in who was - at least for a brief second - Marianne's doppelganger. But from a different angle the resemblance vanished.

edit: as with the entry from Oct 25th, this photo is dated Christmas 1946 and not June or July as previously stated. The nativity scene should have been a clue, I know! I also doubt that the family lived in Sweden, owing to the more decipherable address on the second photo.

Attention

Attention

No prizes for guessing the focus of attention here, and it isn't the beautiful panoramic view over Paris.

What about that body language though? His is easy enough to read, but she has her right arm across him like a barrier.

Thanks to fliegender for indentifying the location in the previous entry as the pont neuf: as much as I love Paris, I'm very far from being sufficiently knowledgeable to identify where many of these shots were taken, so I certainly appreciate the help.

Margareta in what appears to be the same place as this shot.

In taking some of the photos out to scan them, I made a discovery - some of them have descriptions and dates on the back.

I'll include these annotations with the photos where possible.
